RDF Supreme Council meeting

On March 24, a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Russian Rugby Federation was held at the office of the Moscow Rugby Federation.

Speakers were Igor Yurievich Artemiev, President of the Russian Rugby Federation; Veronika Viktorovna Loginova, General Director of ARAA RUSADA; Sergey Sergeevich Markov, Member of the Board, Sports Director of the Russian Rugby Federation; Renat Alexandrovich Sadykov; Artyom Evgenyevich Kobanov, President of the OFSOO “Federation of Power Extreme of Russia”; Mikhail Sergeevich Plekhanov, Deputy Director for Communications; Andrey Evgenyevich Sikachev, Member of the Board, Financial Director of the Russian Rugby Federation.

At the meeting, it was decided: to award the medal “For outstanding sporting achievements” to Petr Petrovich Etko; award the medal “For Outstanding Sporting Achievements” to Sergei Davydovich Ludwig.

The key decision of the meeting was the approval of the new composition of the FRR and ESC RDF.

Renat Sadykov became the head of the FRR Control and Disciplinary Committee, and Pavel Berzin became the head of the Expert Judicial Commission.

“All our steps with the clubs are coordinated, these are not just spontaneous decisions by Sergei Markov or anyone else. First of all, I want to thank the previous members of the FTC, headed by Sergei Davydovich Ludwig, who has been doing a great job for many years. Last year we had several judicial shortcomings, which ended in disqualification of judges. At the same time, 4-5 judges were under a heavy load, which was also one of the reasons that prompted us to reform the judiciary. The pressure on the referees gets huge closer to the playoffs, and every week it becomes difficult to referee the same clubs. First of all, it is a big psychological burden. Therefore, now we will trust the young people more, expand the pool of referees and give our main referees the opportunity to have time to rest between games, ”said Sergey Markov, sports director of the RDF.

In the refereeing reform, the emphasis was placed on the fact that clubs’ complaints about refereeing and other incidents will be considered in a timely manner, promptly (48 hours after filing a detailed complaint – the decision of the ESC, 96 hours after the end of the match – the decision of the FTC), and also become more open and transparent (publication of ESC and FTC decisions on the official resources of the RDF).

The referees, depending on the decision of the ESC and the score for the game, may be subject to a monetary penalty, the amount of which will vary from 25 to 75%. At the same time, as we have already reported, the remuneration of Russian arbitrators in 2023 will be higher. At the same time, the application of sanctions to the referee is possible without a complaint from the teams, based on the assessment of the manager of the referees, David Passikos.
