RBC: the investigation classified the investigation of the criminal case against the former head of the DPR Strelkov
RBC, citing the lawyer of the former head of the Ministry of Defense of the DPR, Igor Strelkov (Girkin), Alexander Molokhov, reports that the investigation has classified the criminal case initiated against him.
The lawyer said that this was the only thing he could report, since the disclosure of state secrets was “a serious matter.”
Earlier, on July 21, at a court hearing held in the Meshchansky Court of Moscow, it was said that the investigation was being conducted by FSB investigators. Strelkov was taken into custody until September 18, and a case was opened against him for public calls to extremism using the Internet. The defendant faces a sentence of up to 5 years in prison.
Justifying the need to arrest Strelkov, the state prosecutor stated that the person under investigation had served in the operational unit of the special services and had conspiracy skills.
Strelkov’s defense subsequently appealed his arrest.
In 2014, Igor Strelkov (Girkin) was one of the leaders of the militia in the Donbass. In August 2014, he was removed from the post of head of the DPR Ministry of Defense, he did not take any more part in the hostilities.
