Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev believes that a center for the development and production of unmanned vehicles can be created in the city. He expressed this opinion at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to Mr. Razvozhaev, the experience of the shipyard and the achievements of local scientists make it possible to implement this project.
“In Sevastopol, it would be possible to create competencies for the development of marine drones – unmanned vehicles. … Taking into account the production base of Sevmorzavod and the intellectual base of the university and the scientific and educational center, it would be possible to make a center for the development of surface and underwater vehicles in Sevastopol, ”said the governor (quoted by TASS).
During the meeting, Mr. Razvozhaev drew the president’s attention to the difficulties with orders from the Sevastopol Marine Plant. Ordzhonikidze, who previously built warships and now civil ships. According to the governor, at present the enterprise needs support, since a portfolio of orders has not been formed for it. Mr. Razvozhaev asked to consider the plant for participation in the state defense order.
Following the meeting, Vladimir Putin instructed the government and the United Shipbuilding Corporation, which includes the Sevastopol Marine Plant, to resolve the issue of its loading. According to the president, “for all the years of its existence” 500 new ships have been built at the plant, over 5 thousand ships have been repaired.
