Worried moms in Merseyside are refusing to let their kids and pets play outside after ‘cat-sized rats’ have started to terrorize the neighborhood.
One dog is reported to have died after licking up rat urine, and local mothers are posting on social media that they now fear for their children if the child is bitten by pests.
“Now it has come to the point that we are all limited. I know that this is not the most disadvantaged area, I grew up here, but it seems that the authorities do not pay any attention to this, ”said one of the residents in an interview with the Liverpool Echo.
Another woman claims she even had to spend “a fortune” to replace her car after rats were found in her engine. “The mechanic told me that they nested in the engine and gnawed through the diesel pipe so that my car was eating fuel.
Rats were found nesting in my previous car as well. It’s disgusting that we have to live with parasites. I can’t let my kids out in the back garden, and I can’t even let a dog out.”
A Knowsley Council spokesman said they will continue to fight the rat infestation in the area by working with local residents, businesses and partners using a variety of methods.
