Rare weapons from the Time of Troubles era found in the Russian region

Museum-reserve “Kulikovo Field” in published on official website press release reports that scientists from the Tula archaeological expedition discovered a klevets, which is a rare ancient weapon dating from the 16th to 17th centuries. Researchers admit that the steel artifact decorated with silver could have belonged to a prince or governor of the Time of Troubles.
At its core, the klevet is a melee weapon for close combat. Its characteristic feature is a beak-shaped curved protrusion on one side, intended for delivering a targeted strike. This type of weapon, as scientists have noted, was used by the Polish nobility, and it was also found among the Russian nobility.
When clearing the artifact, experts found that the weapon was coated with silver, and besides, under a layer of dirt and corrosion, scientists discovered numerous patterns in the form of grids and diamonds. It is noted that the original weight of the find before restoration was about 382 grams.
