Rapid chess tournament held in Serpukhov

In honor of International Chess Day, Serpukhov hosted a rapid chess tournament among young athletes and adult amateurs.
The tournament was attended by 26 chess players of different sports categories and in different age categories. The youngest participant is 8 years old, and the oldest is over 70 years old.
Chess allows you to fight in a democratic way, as well as to show your sportsmanship. On this day, in the City Chess Club, young athletes played against adults and experienced ones.
– As for playing with young opponents, especially with children: older chess players consider them dangerous. This is because they think faster. They have good tactical vigilance, memory. They are well prepared in the opening plan. It’s hard to play with them, but it’s interesting – said Roman Akimushkin, teacher of the specialization “Theory and Methods of Chess” at the Russian State University GTSOLIFK.
