The world’s largest manufacturer of lithographic equipment for the production of microchips, the Dutch company ASML completed second quarter of the year with a net profit of €1.94 billion. This is 37.6% more than last year. The company’s revenue grew by 27% year-on-year to reach €6.9 billion, both of which were higher than forecasts by analysts polled by Refinitiv. They expected ASML’s quarterly revenue to be €6.72 billion and profit to €1.82 billion.
In addition, the company revised its own forecast for sales growth this year – from 25% to 30%. As noted in the press release, the improvement in the forecast is due to higher-than-expected demand for lithography machines using deep ultraviolet synthesis (DUV) in chip fabrication. Such microcircuits can be used not only in household appliances, but also in the field of training artificial intelligence models.
