Representatives of Vladimir Putin’s campaign headquarters brought to the Central Election Commission the signatures of voters in his support, necessary for his registration in the presidential elections that will be held this year. The co-chairs of the headquarters, Vladimir Mashkov and Maryana Lysenko, as well as confidant Viktor Blazheev and volunteer Zakhar Pertsev, came to submit documents to the CEC, TASS reports.
A total of 95 boxes with signatures were brought to the election commission; they were brought in by 15 headquarters volunteers. Mr. Mashkov said that in support of Vladimir Putin, from December 23 to January 22, ten times more signatures were collected than necessary. He did not give the exact figure.
The presidential elections will be held March 15–17. Mr. Putin plans to take part in them as a self-nominated candidate. According to the law, self-nominated candidates must submit at least 300 thousand and no more than 315 thousand signatures to the Central Election Commission to register for elections. Initiative group for his nomination was registered at the end of December 2023. January 17 Vladimir Putin for the first time visited his campaign headquarters and met with volunteers.
Mr. Putin was the first of the participants in the presidential race to provide the Central Election Commission with signatures in his support. The CEC also registered as candidates Leonid Slutsky (LDPR), Vladislava Davankova (“New people”), Nikolai Kharitonov (CPRF).
