Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that Vladimir Putin will take part in the United Russia (UR) congress on December 17, which will be held in Moscow at the Russia exhibition and forum at VDNKh.
“We expect that Putin will take part in this congress,” Mr. Peskov told reporters, without specifying whether the possible nomination of a president from United Russia will be discussed at the congress.
According to information sources Kommersant, at the United Russia congress, party representatives will announce the candidate for the 2024 presidential election whom they will support.
Today, December 8, after the ceremony of presenting the Golden Star medals to the Heroes of Russia in the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin announced about the decision to nominate his candidacy in the next presidential elections, which will be held in March 2024. After the ceremony, the president talked with the awarded participants of the special operation; they asked the president to run for election. Vladimir Putin agreed. On December 6, the Federation Council scheduled presidential elections for March 17, 2024. For the first time they will take place over three days: March 15, 16 and 17.
According to the FOM, 70% of Russians support the nomination of Vladimir Putin for a new presidential term.
