Putin will take part in the municipal elections in Moscow

Russian President Vladimir Putin will take part in the municipal elections in Moscow, Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told Vedomosti.
“[Президент] must take part in the voting. We will let you know how,” Peskov said, answering the question of whether the president will vote in the municipal elections in person or via remote electronic voting (DEG).
Municipal elections in Moscow will be held from 9 to 11 September. Muscovites will elect deputies in 125 districts of the city out of 146, in total 1417 mandates are replaced. 6084 candidates were registered for the elections, 461 candidates were denied registration. Candidates from 11 parties and two movements, as well as self-nominated candidates, are participating in the elections.
Viktor Poturemsky, director of political analysis at the Institute for Social Marketing (Insomar), said earlier that turnout in municipal elections in Moscow could be 28-32% thanks to the DEG. This is twice as high as the turnout in elections of the same level in 2017 – then it was 14.82%.
