Russian President Vladimir Putin, on National Unity Day on November 4, will traditionally lay flowers at the monument to Minin and Pozharsky on Red Square, said press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov.

On November 4, 2022, Putin also took part in the traditional ceremonies laying flowers at the monument to Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky. Afterwards, the head of state visited the exhibition “Ukraine. At the turning point of eras” in Manege.
National Unity Day has been celebrated since 2005. This day is the day of military glory of Russia. The holiday was established in memory of the events of 1612, when the people’s militia led by Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky liberated Moscow from Polish invaders during the Time of Troubles.
