“On June 22, on the day of the 82nd anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War, the President will take part in the wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden,” the message says.

The last time the President accepted participation in the wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on February 23, Defender of the Fatherland Day. The event was also attended by war veterans. Putin laid flowers at Kyiv and other stelae of hero cities in the Alexander Garden. After the laying of flowers, a minute of silence and the performance of the national anthem, the head of state talked to the veterans. He called the care of those who defend the country a sacred duty of the state. On June 22, 2022, Putin also laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Before that, on January 27, Putin visited Piskarevsky memorial cemetery in St. Petersburg and honored the memory of the inhabitants and defenders of Leningrad, who died during the blockade of the city.
