President Vladimir Putin will take part in voting in the Moscow mayoral elections online, his press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
“Of course, the head of state will also vote in these elections. His schedule is quite hectic. As far as I know, he means to vote online in the Moscow mayoral elections,” Peskov said during a press call.
Asked if the Kremlin expected low voter turnout in the gubernatorial elections, the spokesman noted that turnout has been high in recent years. Mr. Peskov also drew attention to the development of technology: elections are becoming “more convenient, better organized.” “In addition, of course, the voters themselves are very active,” the Kremlin spokesman added.
Elections will be held in Russia on September 8-10 (single voting day is scheduled for September 10). Elections of senior officials are planned in 21 constituent entities, as well as additional elections of State Duma deputies in four vacant single-mandate constituencies.
