Putin to the government: people should not suffer because of the sluggishness of the authorities

At a meeting with members of the government, Vladimir Putin demanded that the ministers once again carefully and informally work through all issues related to the heating season. He noted that the climate on the planet is changing, but Russia, despite global warming, remains a northern country.
“Russia is a northern country, and no one has canceled the heating season,” the president emphasized. He noted that on the eve of winter, “everything must be done in a timely manner,” “so that at the last moment we don’t break where it’s delicate,” and “so that people don’t suffer from the sluggishness of the authorities.”
Addressing the first deputy head of the Kremlin administration, Sergei Kiriyenko, Putin reminded the meeting participants that in the mid-90s he was the Minister of Energy, and the then head of government Viktor Chernomyrdin taught the young minister how “you need to go through the autumn-winter maximum.”
“He will tell you later, you need to listen – these were the advice of an experienced leader,” the president said, advising officials responsible for the heating season to seek advice from Kiriyenko.
