Putin to discuss development of laws on NGOs and special operation with HRC members

Russian President Vladimir Putin invited members of the Human Rights Council (HRC) to discuss issues related to the development of legislation on non-profit organizations and the topic of a special military operation in Ukraine. He announced this during an online meeting with members of the HRC.
“Today we are planning to discuss with you the development of legislation on non-profit organizations, ensuring the rights of citizens in litigation, preserving cultural heritage, and many others. big block [вопросов] dedicated to a special military operation,” he said (cit. according to TASS).
In addition, Putin noted the role of HRC members in the fight against “vile fake foreign media” about the special operation and their contribution to exposing the crimes of the Kyiv regime. The President emphasized that the Russian HRC could become an effective international platform for the protection of human rights, pointing to the “cynical bias” of the UN HRC and other international human rights organizations.
Earlier in November, Putin signed Decree amending the composition of the Human Rights Council. In particular, the special war correspondent of Komsomolskaya Pravda Alexander Kots, a member of the presidium of the organization Free Donbass Elena Shishkina, the head of the regional executive committee of the All-Russian Popular Front Yulia Belekhova and others were included in the HRC.
At the same time, 10 people were expelled from the HRC, including journalists Ekaterina Vinokurova and Nikolai Svanidze, Ivan Zasursky, former head of the Department of New Media at the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University, human rights activist Igor Kalyapin, and others.
Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov explained the emergence of war correspondents in the HRC by the fact that they have become defenders of the rights of those who take part in a special military operation in Ukraine.
