The Russian government will update the list of top priority competencies in the field of high technology development every five years, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with the finalists of the High Technology Championship in Veliky Novgorod.
One of the students asked Putin which of the championship’s eight competencies – flying robotics, bioprosthetics, geospatial digital engineering, neural networks and big data, technology for the development of cities and territories, the manufacture of individual implants, biochemical technologies – will be in demand in the future.
“We recently agreed with the government that the government will create special structures to identify these most in-demand competencies and specialties. <…> The government structure will have to update these preferences every time for the next five years,” Putin said.
The head of state emphasized that everything is changing very quickly, so changes require new competencies.
Putin ordered an extended meeting of the State Council Presidium to be held in Veliky Novgorod on September 20-21 on the development of the labor market in Russia. On September 20, preliminary discussions were held to form consolidated conclusions of experts in a number of areas; on September 21, they will be presented to the president.
In September Putin instructed provide support for research centers in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) until 2030. The president asked to pay special attention to “the need for them to conduct research on optimizing machine learning algorithms and computing processes, including those related to the development of large language models and generative artificial intelligence technologies” .
