Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting, which was attended, in particular, by the heads of the Central Bank, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economic Development, said that the new federal budget of Russia should be stable and balanced. With such a budget, the head of state believes, Russia will be able to “confidently” modernize the economy and strengthen the infrastructure of the regions.

“It is important for the next three years, and in the future, to maintain a line on the stability and balance of the federal budget, which will allow us to confidently and consistently solve the set tasks of modernizing the economy and the social sphere, strengthening infrastructure and supporting regions, and other important areas of the country’s development,” – the president explained to the members of the government (quote from the website Kremlin).

Mr. Putin expects that today the government will be able to reach “a concrete final decision” on the budget process.

The main message of last week’s government budget meeting was became caution in stimulating GDP growth. According to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Russia has the necessary resources to resume “progressive development.”
