Russia suspends a number of agreements with the USA, Poland, Great Britain, Japan, Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, as well as Bulgaria, Hungary, etc.

This decision was taken “out of the need to take urgent measures” in connection with the unfriendly actions of some countries. Some treaties are suspended “until the violations committed by them of the legitimate economic and other interests of the Russian Federation by foreign states are eliminated.”

The President also instructed the government to “ensure the adoption of measures aimed at reducing the impact on the economy” of Russia in connection with the suspension of agreements.

In February, Russia suspended the Strategic Offensive Arms Treaty (START). As the president stated, Moscow does not break the agreement and is ready to return to it, provided that the nuclear potential of France and Great Britain, members of NATO, is taken into account. In addition, Moscow may resume nuclear weapons testing if the United States returns to them.
