Putin supported the candidacy of the Oryol governor in the autumn elections

Russian President Vladimir Putin supported the candidacy of the current governor of the Oryol region Andrey Klychkov for nomination in the autumn elections in 2023. The Russian leader said this during meetings with the head of the region.

As part of the meeting, Klychkov asked Putin to support him in the elections and in the implementation of ongoing and new regional projects.

“Of course, you will need to go to the people and get from them, first of all, an assessment of the results of your work and receive a mandate of trust for the next term. For my part, of course, I will do everything to support you,” Putin replied.

At the meeting, Klychkov said, in particular, that the GDP of the Oryol region has increased by 1.6 times over the past five years, and regional budget revenues by 1.8 times. Poverty in the region, according to his data, decreased over this period from 13.9 to 12.1%, and wages increased by 1.6 times. Investments have grown 1.4 times since 2017, with a quarter of them being investments in the development of agriculture.

Demography remains a problem area, Klychkov admitted. To improve the situation in the region, six new kindergartens were built, more than 170 rural schools were repaired and social support was increased.

The President has already spoken to 16 of the 17 current governors. On June 6, the president spoke with the head of the Magadan region, Sergei Nosov. In addition, on June 1, the President met with Governor of the Moscow Region Andrey Vorobyov, on May 29 with the head of Yakutia Aisen Nikolaev, on May 16 with the Governor of the Amur Region Vasily Orlov and the head of the Novosibirsk Region Andrey Travnikov. The President has yet to meet only with Governor Valentin Konovalov from Khakassia.
