Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with the government, said that the term “pioneers” is well suited for the name of the Russian children’s movement. According to the head of state, the word “pioneer” is devoid of any ideological load.
During the government meeting, the talk turned to the all-Russian movement of children and youth “Movement of the First”. It was mentioned by Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova in her report on preparations for the children’s summer vacation. She stressed that the guys chose the name for the movement themselves.
Putin responded by saying that “we are talking, apparently, about the pioneers.” Golikova said in response that “the old way you can say so.”
“In the old way – in a new way, as it was, so it is. There is no escape from this. This term, this name – it, unlike the Komsomol – the communist youth union – is devoid of any ideological connotation. Think about it, please,” the Russian President said.
The congress of the Movement of the First, at which the name of the organization was agreed, was held in Moscow on December 18 last year. Vladimir Putin instructed until September 1 create movement centers in the regions. Sources of “Kommersant” spokethat the movement is unofficially positioned as a modern analogue of the Soviet pioneer organization.
