Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by phone with the acting head of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo. They discussed the situation in the Russian-controlled part of the region after the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. This was announced by the press secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov.

During the conversation, Vladimir Saldo told Vladimir Putin about the development of the situation in the Kherson region. Mr. Putin instructed to analyze the additional needs of the region after the destruction of the hydroelectric power station and the resulting flood.

“Putin instructed the Ministry of Emergency Situations to provide all necessary assistance to households affected by the flood in full compliance with Russian standards,” Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

Kakhovskaya HPP was partially destroyed on June 6. The water flooded the settlements on both sides of the Dnieper, the left bank is controlled by Russian troops, the right bank by Ukrainians. The parties blame each other for what happened. Head of Russian-controlled Nova Kakhovka informed about five dead and 41 injured as a result of the flood. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky today, June 8, visited flooded Kherson. In the Kremlin spokethat Vladimir Putin is not going to visit the Kherson region.
