Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, reported in the press service of the Armenian Cabinet of Ministers.

The leaders of the two countries, the report says, discussed the situation in Armenia “after the forced deportation of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh,” as well as a number of issues on the bilateral agenda. Pashinyan also congratulated the Russian head of state on his birthday.

Putin and Pashinyan previously spoke by phone in September after Azerbaijan announced the start of “anti-terrorist measures” in Nagorno-Karabakh to “restorate the constitutional order.” After negotiations, the authorities of the unrecognized republic agreed to surrender their weapons under the control of Russian peacekeepers, and then its president Samvel Shahramanyan signed a decree ending the existence of the NKR from 2024.

Putin on October 5 during the plenary session of the Valdai Discussion Club in Sochi statedthat Armenia could receive part of the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh. According to him, for the last 15 years Moscow has offered Yerevan to receive two territories of Karabakh, but to return five regions to Azerbaijan.
