Putin spoke by phone with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia

Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with the Crown Prince, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, reported on the Kremlin website.

During the conversation, which took place at the initiative of the Saudi side, the crown prince of the kingdom “in connection with the events in Russia on June 24, expressed support for the measures taken by the Russian leadership to protect the constitutional order, the life and security of citizens.”

The parties also discussed issues of Russian-Saudi cooperation, and Putin asked to convey congratulations on the Eid al-Adha holiday to the king and people of Saudi Arabia.

Yesterday, June 26, President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi and Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani also expressed their full support to the Russian leadership in connection with the attempted military mutiny on June 24 by telephone.

During these events, Putin held telephone conversations with the leaders of other states, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkey. Contacts on the situation in Russia were also announced in the West – the White House in its press release said that US President Joe Biden discussed the attempted rebellion with French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The British Prime Minister, in turn, had previously stated that “all parties should show responsibility and protect the lives of civilians.”
