Russia’s political leadership welcomes everything that benefits Russian business, President Vladimir Putin said, commenting on the relocation of some Russian workers to Armenia and other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

“We welcome everything that benefits Russian business. If now the conditions have developed in such a way that it is expedient for people to work, and these are mainly IT specialists, then for God’s sake, let them work. Armenia is not a foreign country to us, everything is nearby, you can work in Yerevan, but actually live in Moscow,” said he is at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum (WEF), which was broadcast on the forum website.

Putin stressed that many have already returned, realizing that even against the backdrop of the Western sanctions policy, “everything is working, everything is stable.” The President also added that he has nothing against Russians working, for example, in Azerbaijan or Kazakhstan.

In May, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that about 85% of IT specialists who left the country after the start of a special operation in Ukraine returned to Russia. According to him, the measures taken by the government in connection with the current situation are “prompt responses to emerging challenges.” According to the Russian Association for Electronic Communications (RAEC), 50,000–70,000 IT specialists left Russia in March, and another 70,000–100,000 left in April.
