Atomic physicist reveals details of IAEA report on ZNPP

They submitted a quickly riveted document

In early September, an IAEA mission arrived on the territory of the Zaporozhye NPP, the purpose of which was to protect the plant from a possible nuclear accident and to inspect all facilities related to nuclear and radiation safety. A few days after the visit to the Zaporizhzhya NPP, the organization presented the final report, which, according to nuclear physicist Andrei Ozharovsky, is in fact a document “quickly riveted in a hurry”.

In an interview with the publication "Ukraine.ru" Ozharovsky explained that the IAEA publication is not a report on a mission to the Zaporizhzhya NPP, but rather a report on what is happening in Ukraine between April 28, when Russian troops entered the station, and September 5. As the specialist noted, it briefly recounts that the IAEA managed to find out about what is happening from various sources, especially from communication with Ukraine, since the country is responsible for the nuclear power plant.

The expert stressed that there is no mission report yet, and it will be later, separately, but probably not soon. Ozharovsky explained that the presented document does not contain a report on the status of nuclear materials. The physicist suggested that he might have searched badly, but he could not find information about enriched uranium and spent nuclear fuel, although one of the main tasks of the IAEA is to monitor materials that can form the basis for the creation of explosive devices.

According to the expert, the published document is extremely preliminary, quickly written for the meeting of the UN Security Council. Ozharovsky concluded that this was a document “quickly riveted in a hurry” until the end of the mission, and this is clearly visible.
