Putin simplified the admission of Belarusians, Kazakhs and Moldovans to Russian citizenship

President Vladimir Putin signed a decree simplifying the admission of Russian citizenship to citizens of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Moldova. The document was published on the official Internet portal legal information.
According to the presidential decree, citizens of Belarus who have reached the age of 18 will be able to obtain Russian citizenship without meeting the following requirements: permanent residence in the Russian Federation from the date of issuance of a residence permit, knowledge of the Russian language, knowledge of the history of Russia and the fundamentals of the country’s legislation. For citizens of Kazakhstan and Moldova, the listed requirements are also canceled. However, they need to confirm their knowledge of the Russian language.
To obtain Russian citizenship, Belarusians will need to provide a corresponding application, residence permit and passport. Citizens of Kazakhstan and Moldova are also required to provide proof of Russian language proficiency.
