Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on swearing in volunteers and territorial defense fighters, as well as employees of state security companies in the annexed regions. The document was published on the official Internet portal legal information.

According to the decree, members of volunteer formations and other persons assisting the Russian army in the performance of its tasks in the zone of a special military operation are required to take the oath.

The head of state also approved the text of the oath: “I solemnly swear allegiance to the Russian Federation, I pledge to sacredly observe the Constitution of the Russian Federation, strictly follow the orders of commanders and superiors, and conscientiously fulfill the duties assigned to me. I swear to be devoted to the Russian Federation, to courageously defend its independence and constitutional order.”

Those who have already taken the military oath in the Russian Federation or in the USSR will not be sworn in. The text of the military oath in the Russian Federation contains words about the fulfillment of the requirements of “military regulations” and the protection of “the people and the Fatherland.”

The formation of volunteer units began in the Russian regions in the first half of 2022. Since the beginning of the special operation in Russia, more than 40 volunteer units have been created. November 21, 2022 Vladimir Putin signed the law on granting the status of a combat veteran to volunteers who participate in the military operation in Ukraine.
