Five EU countries will demand to extend the ban on grain imports from Ukraine until the end of the year

Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia will demand from the European Commission to extend the ban on grain imports from Ukraine until the end of this year, said Polish Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Robert Telus.
“We support the import ban [зерна с Украины] to our countries by the end of the year. This will be our request.” leads his words TASS.
At the same time, the official noted that countries should be allowed to add other products to the list of prohibited goods or exclude them from there.
Earlier in July Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia signed declaration, according to which the ban on grain imports from Ukraine will be extended after September 15. Telus then explained that the restriction on grain imports from Ukraine brought “unexpectedly positive effect” in the form of an increase in the volume of transit. In particular, if in March only 120,000 tons of wheat were sent through Poland to other countries, then after the introduction of the import ban in June – 260,000 tons.
On May 2, the European Commission banned the export of grain from Ukraine to Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia, but allowed its transit and export to other EU countries. In early June, the EC extended this ban until September 15.
