Russian President Vladimir Putin said he sees no point in imposing martial law throughout Russia. According to him, it is enough to work “more carefully” on individual issues. According to him, because of the shelling of Russian territories, a “sanitary zone” may be created on the territory of Ukraine.

“In general, there is no point in introducing some kind of special regime in the country, martial law, there is no such need today. We need to work more carefully on some issues,” the President said at the meeting with military commanders in the Kremlin.

The President also commented on the increased shelling from Ukraine. In his opinion, if the shelling does not stop, Russia can create a “sanitary zone” on the territory of Ukraine at such a distance that the Russian regions cannot be reached.

“And if this continues, then we will apparently have to consider the issue – I say this very carefully – in order to create some kind of sanitary zone on the territory of Ukraine at such a distance from which it would be impossible to get our territory,” he said. .

Martial law is in effect in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, in accordance with a presidential decree of October 19. May 18 State Duma deputies accepted martial law election law. This will allow the heads of the annexed regions to determine the specifics of the elections themselves.
