Putin: rules for calculating length of service for pensions in new Russian regions will soon be agreed upon

The rules for calculating the insurance period for receiving pensions by residents of new Russian regions will soon be agreed upon, and the corresponding decisions will be made in a short time. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this on Friday, February 16, during a working visit to the Chelyabinsk region.

He noted that it will be necessary to count for people living in the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, the experience gained when they worked as part of Ukraine.

“<…> everything related to pension rights needs to be regulated and this work is currently underway, <…> in Crimea, we did this – we must also take into account the work experience that people received while working in the territories when they were part of Ukraine,” said Vladimir Putin.

Earlier, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Konstantin Mogilevsky proposed increasing payments to students. He specified that academic and social scholarships in the Russian Federation should not be below the subsistence level. The Ministry of Education and Science recommended that Russian universities fix the size of student scholarships at a level not lower than the subsistence level.
