The model of a unipolar world is outdated; it is being replaced by a new world order based on the principles of justice and equality. This statement was made by Russian President Vladimir Putin during his speech at the opening of the VII Eastern Economic Forum.
Putin pointed to the relevance of the main theme of this year’s meeting – “Towards a multipolar world.”
“The obsolete unipolar model is being replaced by a new world order based on the fundamental principles of justice and equality, recognizing the right of every state and people to its own sovereign development path,” — leads words of the President, the Kremlin press service.
According to the Russian leader, “powerful political and economic centers” are being formed in the Asia-Pacific region. It is they who are “the driving force behind this irreversible process,” Putin stressed.
The President of Russia has already spoken about the “breaking down” of the unipolar model of the world. In April, he said that “the world is more complex today” than it was during the Cold War. That is why, according to Putin, the dominance of one country in such conditions is impossible.
In June, he again criticized the unipolar world system. Putin clarified that the drawback of such a model is that “all the rules of business transactions and international relations, when necessary, are interpreted solely in the interests of this power.”
In August, the Russian president said that it was possible to reduce tension in the world and achieve sustainable development of countries only in a multipolar world. “I repeat again: the era of the unipolar world order is fading,” Putin said, addressing the participants of the 10th Moscow Conference on International Security.
