Putin: Russian military shows exceptional examples of bravery

The Russian military is showing exceptional examples of courage and self-sacrifice during a special military operation in Ukraine, President Vladimir Putin said.

“Our country has repeatedly faced trials and defended its sovereignty. Today, Russia is again challenged by the same challenge. And on the front line of the NMD, soldiers, officers, militias and volunteers show exceptional examples of courage and self-sacrifice, ”said the head of state (quote according to TASS).

Putin drew attention to the fact that at the ceremony the stars of the Heroes of Russia are awarded to servicemen who have shown special valor in the course of solving combat missions – Senior Lieutenant Stepan Belov and Major Konstantin Shirokov, and also expressed pride in their courage and bravery.

The head of state said earlier that every Russian fighter on the front line in the special operation zone is a hero for him personally and for all Russians. He also presented the highest state awards to the fighters who showed exceptional valor and courage during a special military operation and stressed that Russia would not allow anyone to denigrate and slander the heroes who are fulfilling their patriotic duty.

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia, and on October 19 martial law was introduced in the regions.
