Putin: Russia will be able to repel ATACMS missile attacks

Russia will be able to repel Ukrainian attacks with ATACMS missiles. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this in a conversation with reporters.

According to the president, US supplies of ATACMS missiles to Ukraine are harmful and create an additional threat.

“If they had not supplied weapons, they could have said in the future: If we had supplied everything that we could, then the situation would have changed, but this would have led to unnecessary casualties. We are so good, we didn’t do this. But they did it, but there will be no result,” Putin emphasized.

The head of state explained that there are no positive aspects for Ukraine in this situation either – “it just prolongs the agony.”

“They launched the long-awaited and announced counter-offensive now in the Kherson direction. There is no result yet: there are losses, but there is no result. Just as it was in Zaporozhye and other directions.

The president called another mistake the fact that the United States is increasingly drawn into the conflict. In this regard, on behalf of the President of the Russian Aerospace Forces, they are beginning constant patrolling of the airspace over the Black Sea by aircraft with Kinzhal systems.

On October 17, it became known that the United States had supplied ATACMS long-range missiles to Ukraine. On the same day this information confirmed President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky. October 18, German journalist Julian Röpke notedthat the United States provided Ukraine with the original old version of the MGM-140 ATACMS missile with a classic inertial guidance system, but without GPS, since Russia has successfully repelled attacks from most GPS-guided weapons.

ATACMS weighs about 2 tons, the cost of one guided missile is about $1.5 million. Such missiles can be launched using HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), which the Ukrainian Armed Forces already have at their disposal. ATACMS maximum range is approximately 186 miles (300 km).
