Putin: Russia continues to help the poorest countries with food supplies

Russia continues to help the poorest countries by supplying them with food, while the West pulls the blanket over itself, said President Vladimir Putin.

“Unlike Western countries, which are shamelessly pulling on themselves, Russia, on the contrary, helps the poorest states of Asia, Africa and other regions, supplies food and other goods. In the coming months, we are ready to transfer about 260,000 tons of fertilizers to countries in need free of charge,” — quotes President’s press service of the Kremlin.

Putin has previously pledged to help countries fight food shortages. He also noted that after sanctions were imposed on Russia, some states and global corporations used their monopoly advantages, competencies in the field of breeding, production of genetic materials to deter competitors and “aggressively conquer markets.”

Russia and Turkey earlier also confirmed the package nature of the agreements within the framework of the grain deal during the consultations between Vershinin and Onal held on December 8-9 in Istanbul.

On July 22, representatives of Turkey and the UN signed separate agreements with representatives of Russia and Ukraine on the export of Ukrainian grain, as well as on assistance in the export of Russian grain and fertilizers. But soon the Russian authorities accused the West of non-compliance with the second part of the agreement, which concerns the memorandum between Russia and the UN. At the same time, the UN said that they were working to remove restrictions that hinder exports.
