Putin: Russia already has a sufficient reserve of military personnel

About 150,000 military personnel are being trained at the training grounds of the Russian Ministry of Defense, this is a sufficient reserve for conducting a special operation in Ukraine, declared Russian President Vladimir Putin at an expanded meeting of the Collegium of the Ministry of Defense.

“As you know, 300,000 people have been drafted into the Armed Forces. Some of them are already in the war zone. As reported by the Minister of Defense, Chief of the General Staff, 150,000 people are being trained at military training grounds. This is a sufficient reserve for conducting an operation, it is practically a strategic reserve,” he said.

Earlier, during a meeting with the Human Rights Council (HRC) on December 8, Putin declaredthat at present there is no need for additional mobilization measures. A day earlier, he also said that it was pointless to talk about a new wave of mobilization.

In addition, the idea of ​​a second wave of mobilization is also rejected in the Kremlin. In November, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that in the Kremlin not maintained any discussion about it. At the same time, he added that “he cannot speak for the Ministry of Defense.” In early December, Peskov called reports of a new wave of mobilization “provocative” and called for focusing on the statements of the Ministry of Defense and the President.

Partial mobilization went on in Russia from September 21 to the end of October. During this time, according to the Ministry of Defense, 300,000 military personnel were called up. On October 31, the Ministry of Defense announced the final completion of all activities within the framework of the call for partial mobilization, including the issuance of subpoenas. Later, Putin confirmed this, emphasizing that this issue was “put to an end.”
