Putin replaces Russia’s representative to UNESCO

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree appointing Rinat Alyautdinov as Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to UNESCO. Mr. Alyautdinov replaced Alexander Kuznetsov in this position. Corresponding document published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
Rinat Alyautdinov was born in 1958 and graduated from MGIMO in 1981. From 2012 to 2017, he served as Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Office. In 2018, he was appointed director of the Department for Humanitarian Cooperation and Human Rights of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The previous Permanent Representative of Russia to UNESCO, Alexander Kuznetsov, has held this position since September 2016. Prior to that, in particular, he was the Russian Ambassador to Spain and concurrently in Andorra (from 2005 to 2012), as well as the director of the Historical and Documentary Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry (2012-2016).
