Putin refused to participate in pre-election debates – Kommersant



The Central Election Commission (CEC) received a refusal from presidential candidate Vladimir Putin to participate in joint campaign events. The secretary of the election commission, Natalya Budarina, announced this at a meeting of the Central Election Commission.

“The Central Election Commission of Russia received a document confirming the refusal of the candidate for the post of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin to participate in joint campaign events on the channels of all-Russian state television and radio broadcasting organizations,” said Mrs. Budarina (quoted from RIA Novosti).

The Russian presidential elections will take place from March 15 to 17. On January 29, the Central Election Commission registered Vladimir Putin as a candidate in the elections; he will take part in them as a self-nominated candidate.
