Russian President Vladimir Putin recorded an address to the participants of the start of the 100-day countdown to the World Youth Festival, which will open on March 1, 2024 in Sochi on the territory of the Sirius center. Address by the head of state published on the Kremlin website.
“Young people, and they are the ones who will determine the future, respect personal freedom and the right to their own opinion. And at the same time, it is much easier for them to understand each other, because for them what is important is what unites and does not separate people. Russia adheres to the same principles of recognition of the identity and national interests of different states,” the president said.
“I am confident that the festival will be a significant step towards the formation of a fair, multipolar world; it will be able to consolidate young people in finding the solutions that the modern world order needs, in creating a strong foundation of cooperation on which relations between countries will be built,” he added.
According to the president, more than 250 thousand applications from 183 countries were submitted to participate in the World Youth Festival. “Such an impressive scale suggests that there is no power higher than friendship. About a huge, sincere interest in Russia, in our history,” the head of state noted. The 100-day countdown to the start of the festival was launched today, November 21, at the international exhibition and forum “Russia”, which takes place at VDNKh from November 4 to April 12.
