At a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the anniversary of the end of the Korean War, which took place from 1950 to 1953, is a landmark date for Russia.
“Very soon we will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the end of the war of independence and the victory of the Korean people in this war,” TASS quotes Putin.
He noted that this “is a significant date because our country (then the USSR) also helped our friends in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea fight for this independence.”
Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un met in the Amur region at the Vostochny cosmodrome. Negotiations began there. The DPRK leader noted that his country will always fight imperialism together with Russia.
