President Vladimir Putin, during his speech at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, stated the need to increase the focus of higher and secondary educational institutions on the successful employment of graduates. In this regard, he proposed the establishment of key performance indicators for educational institutions.
“The main one is the quality of employment of graduates. On the basis of this approach, I propose to form ratings of educational institutions of vocational education. And secondly, I propose to annually prepare a five-year forecast of the need for personnel at the level of the entire economy,” Mr. Putin said.
He also instructed the government to create a mechanism of “student contracts”, under which the employer pays for the training of an employee, and he receives a guaranteed job after graduation.
