Russian President Vladimir Putin submitted to the State Duma bill on establishing September 30 as the “Day of Reunification of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions with Russia.” On this day a year ago, Vladimir Putin signed agreements on the inclusion of four regions into Russia.

The explanatory note to the project states that September 30, 2022 will go down in modern history. “This event is based on the historical community of peoples living in the territories of these republics and regions, and is the result of the will of millions of people,” the document states.

Vladimir Putin included the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions into Russia following the results of referendums. Ukraine, as well as a number of Western countries, did not recognize the territorial changes and condemned them, calling them annexation.
