Putin promised to defend the truth about the Great Patriotic War

Russia will defend the truth about the Great Patriotic War and resist attempts to rewrite history. This is stated in the greeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the participants of the “No Statute of Limitations” forum, which was read by the head of the Russian Presidential Administration for Public Projects, Sergei Novikov.

“Today we see what tragic, destructive consequences for millions of people are the direct falsification of history, the acquittal of Nazi criminals and their accomplices, and therefore we must firmly, consistently defend the truth about the Great Patriotic War, resist any attempts to reconsider our country’s contribution to the Great Victory.” , the head of state emphasized in his address (quote according to TASS).

Putin has repeatedly called for stopping attempts to rewrite history and reconsider Russia’s role in World War II. In August 2022 he stated about the need to “react harshly” to attempts to falsify history, as well as to suppress any manifestations of neo-Nazism, Russophobia and racism. According to him, this is Russia’s duty “to the memory of the millions of victims of the Second World War.”

In November of the same year, Putin notedthat some countries are trying to shake up Russia’s sovereignty by rewriting history. He stated that these actions are becoming more and more aggressive; they have already been tested in a number of states, including Ukraine.
