Putin promised that the Russian authorities will expand measures to support teachers

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the country’s authorities intend to expand the list of support measures for teachers. The head of state made this statement while congratulating Russian teachers on their professional holiday (celebrated on October 5).

“The Year of the Teacher and Mentor, which is now underway, is another sign of deep, sincere respect for your work, and we will definitely expand measures to support teachers,” Vladimir Putin emphasized in his congratulations, which were published on the official website Kremlin. He did not specify what specific additional support measures for teachers are planned to be introduced in the country.

“I am sincerely glad to congratulate all teachers, mentors, educators on Teacher’s Day. This holiday evokes special, very warm feelings. Words of gratitude to beloved teachers are heard throughout the country today,” added Mr. Putin.

Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko also addressed congratulations to the teachers. In an address to teachers published on the Federation Council website, she noted that “children in the era of digitalization need a teacher, a wise mentor, and the image of the future of Russia should be shaped by people, not artificial intelligence.” Also, Ms. Matvienko believes that the main work to ensure sovereignty in the field of education in Russia has already been completed, a single educational space has been restored, and uniform state standards have been introduced.
