Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the Holy Trinity Seraphim-Diveevo Convent in the Nizhny Novgorod region. He handed over the icon “Our Lady of Feodorovskaya” to the monastery, reported press office Kremlin.
The Feodorovskaya Icon of the Mother of God dates back to the 12th–13th centuries. Previously, it was kept in the Epiphany Cathedral of the Epiphany-Anastasia Monastery.
During his visit, Mr. Putin visited the Trinity and Annunciation Cathedrals. He also attended a short prayer service at the shrine with the relics of St. Seraphim of Sarov.
The head of state was accompanied by the presidential representative in the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov, the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Gleb Nikitin, Metropolitan Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas and the abbess of the monastery Abbess Sergius.
