Putin presented Patriarch Kirill with a prize for “strengthening the unity of the nation”

Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the Presidential Prize to Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ Kirill. The decree on November 4 was published on website legal information.
The text of the decree states that the president notes the contribution of Patriarch Kirill in “strengthening the unity of the Russian nation” in 2023. The proposal to award the patriarch with the presidential prize was put forward by the Presidential Council on Interethnic Relations.
Patriarch Kirill has 15 awards from the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as 18 awards from other church organizations. In addition, the patriarch has 16 state awards. Among them are the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 1st degree, and the Order of Alexander Nevsky.
