On August 15, a military-technical week started in the Patriot Park near Moscow – the Army Forum and the International Army Games. In 2022, the forum, the games, as well as the Moscow Security Conference are held at the same time and under the sign of a special military operation. It seems that traditional international military events have not been canceled precisely in order to show that everything is under control and going according to plan.

Welcoming the participants and guests of the forum and army games, Vladimir Putin did not bypass the topic of a special military operation. He especially singled out the professionalism and courage of the defenders, who have always stood guard over the sovereignty and security of the motherland, brought freedom to other peoples, and today, during a special military operation, together with the fighters of Donbass, they honorably fulfill their duty, fight for Russia, for a peaceful life in Donetsk and the Lugansk People’s Republics, clearly fulfill all the tasks set, step by step liberate the land of Donbass.

Gratitude was also expressed to the Russian gunsmiths. Their products work to win. At the forum, Putin said, more than 28,000 samples of military and dual-use products are presented.

The forum and army games are a form of military and military-technical cooperation. President Putin for his most extensive development. He explained why: in the conditions of a steadily emerging multipolar world, this is especially important.

“We highly appreciate that our country has many allies, partners, like-minded people on different continents. These are states that do not bend before the so-called hegemon. Their leaders show a real masculine character and do not bend. They choose a sovereign independent path of development,” the head of Russia praised like-minded people.

Russia has such allies and partners. These are the states of Latin America, Asia, Africa. Russia, as the president said, is ready to offer them the most modern types of weapons, from small arms to armored vehicles and artillery, combat aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles.

There seems to be something to offer. The President mentioned the developments in the field of artificial intelligence, the latest information and radio-electronic technologies. There are promising models and systems that are oriented towards the future and will determine the future of the Armed Forces. These are high-precision weapons and robotics, weapons based on new physical principles. “Many of them are years, maybe even decades ahead of their foreign counterparts, and they are significantly superior in terms of tactical and technical characteristics,” the Supreme Commander assured.

Russia, by the way, is ready to develop cooperative ties with its allies and work together. “By developing cooperation, we will be able to ensure reliable security and stability of both our countries and the world as a whole,” the president concluded.

Heads of foreign military delegations and leaders of the defense industry took part in the opening ceremony of the forum and games. The President was accompanied by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. Among the guests of honor was a delegation of the Public Council under the Ministry of Defense, headed by the chairman of the council, editor-in-chief of MK Pavel Gusev.

The Army Forum is the undisputed world leader in terms of military exposition. Hundreds of combat vehicles for various purposes can be seen at stationary sites, at training grounds and shooting ranges. This year, the trend is those weapons that are massively used in a special military operation. These are Tornado-S and Tornado-G multiple launch rocket systems, remote demining armored vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles and countermeasures.

A separate exposition is dedicated to the trophies of foreign military equipment from the zone of the special operation. But this exhibition was hidden from the eyes of visitors for the time being. First, the trophies will be shown to those who need it, and then to everyone else.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov spoke about some of the novelties at the plenary session. According to him, for the first time the underwater uninhabited apparatus “Harpsichord-2R” will be shown. The exposition of the Army-2022 forum most widely presents combat robots with elements of artificial intelligence, unmanned aerial vehicles and means of combating them. In particular, a new small-sized missile for the Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile and gun system was presented for the first time.

The recently appointed head of Roskosmos, Yuri Borisov, spoke about the contribution of the rocket and space industry to strengthening the country’s defense capability. At the forum in 2022, the exposition of the state corporation is dedicated to military projects.

Borisov listed intercontinental ballistic missiles, which were developed and built by enterprises in the rocket and space industry. These are the ballistic missiles of the Sineva and Bulava submarines, as well as the missile systems of the Strategic Missile Forces Yars and Sarmat.

In addition, according to Borisov, enterprises in the space industry are creating electronic and radar reconnaissance satellites, secure satellite communications, and surveillance satellites in the interests of the Ministry of Defense.

This year, mannequins can be seen in the design of many expositions. They are dressed in the uniform of military police and military traffic inspectors, tankers, artillerymen, etc. One of the pluses is that the mannequins do not care about the unusual heat for August at 30 degrees.

Since 2015, when the International Military-Technical Forum “Army” was held in the Moscow region for the first time, the number of enterprises participating in it has grown from 800 to 1,500. This was announced at the plenary session of the forum by the First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Ruslan Tsalikov.

“This year, 72 countries are participating in the forum,” Tsalikov said. He thanked the foreigners who came to the forum in a difficult international situation.

First Deputy Shoigu noted the importance of interaction between the main military customer and the military industry. According to him, the forum, which is being held for the eighth time, confirmed the correctness of the initiative to organize it.
