Putin pointed to a deep crisis in relations between Russia and the United States

Relations between Russia and the United States are in deep crisis. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the ceremony of presenting credentials to ambassadors in the Grand Kremlin Palace.
“Relations between Russia and the United States, on which global security and stability directly depend, are going through a deep crisis, unfortunately. It is based on fundamentally different approaches to the formation of the modern world order,” he said.
Putin drew attention to the fact that the use of such tools by the United States as support for color revolutions led to the Ukrainian crisis and the degradation of Russian-American relations. “Support in this regard for the coup in Kyiv in 2014 ultimately led to the current Ukrainian crisis and additionally contributed to the degradation of Russian-American relations,” Putin added.
At the same time, the head of state stressed that Russia has always advocated building relations between Moscow and Washington on the principles of equality, respect for each other’s sovereignty and interests, and non-interference in internal affairs. “We will be guided by this in the future,” the President concluded.
Today, the Kremlin is hosting a ceremony of presenting credentials to newly arrived ambassadors of foreign states. In particular, 17 ambassadors are taking part in the event, including US Ambassador to Russia Lynn Tracy.
Tracy arrived in Moscow on January 26th. Her candidacy, nominated by US President Joe Biden, was supported by the US Senate in December 2022. Previously, the diplomat had already worked in Russia as a deputy ambassador to Moscow. Tracy became the first woman to serve as US Ambassador to Russia. The Russian side agreed to this appointment.
