Putin offered Erdogan help in the aftermath of the earthquake

President Vladimir Putin reaffirmed Russia’s readiness to assist Turkey in eliminating the consequences of earthquakes, transmits the Kremlin press service after the conversation between the head of state and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“Expressing deep condolences in connection with the devastating earthquakes in Turkey, which caused numerous casualties, Vladimir Putin reaffirmed his readiness to immediately provide the Turkish partners with the necessary assistance in eliminating the consequences of this natural disaster,” the message says.
The press service also noted that specific proposals have already been submitted to the Turkish side through the appropriate channels. Erdogan, in turn, thanked Putin and said that he was instructing the competent departments of the country to accept the help of Russian rescuers.
An earthquake of magnitude 7.4 occurred early this morning at 04:17 local time (coincides with Moscow time) in the Pazardzhik region of Kahramanmaras province in southeastern Turkey. The Office for the Prevention and Relief of Consequences of Emergency Situations (AFAD) clarified that after the incident, 42 more aftershocks were recorded, the most powerful of which was with a magnitude of 6.6. In addition to Turkey, Syria also suffered. The death toll in both countries exceeded 1,500.
