Putin named the dates for the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons in Belarus

The deployment of Russian non-strategic nuclear weapons in Belarus will begin after July 7-8. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko.

“On the most sensitive issues that we agreed with you, everything is going according to plan. As you know, on July 7-8, the preparation of the relevant facilities will be completed, and we will immediately begin measures related to the deployment of the relevant types of weapons on your territory. So everything is according to plan, everything is stable, ”- clarified Putin (his words are quoted by the Kremlin press service).

Earlier, Putin announced that the construction of a storage facility for nuclear weapons in Belarus would be completed on July 1.

On May 25, the defense ministers of the two countries signed documents defining the procedure for keeping Russian nuclear weapons on the territory of the republic. On the same day Lukashenka declaredthat “the movement of nuclear weapons has begun” into the territory of his country.

The European Union considered the deployment of nuclear weapons an irresponsible escalation, and the NATO leadership assured that it was monitoring the situation. The Russian Embassy in Washington said that Moscow and Minsk, in the conditions of a hybrid war unleashed against them by the United States, have the right to ensure their security, including in the military-nuclear sphere.

As the reasons for the decision announced in February to deploy nuclear weapons in Belarus, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu previously cited the activity of NATO joint nuclear missions, including training pilots of non-nuclear countries of the alliance to use American nuclear bombs stored in Europe.
