President Vladimir Putin met with President of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN) Gennady Krasnikov. He spoke about the international activities of the RAS and noted that the academy employs 439 foreign members from 55 countries.

At the end of November 2023, the President met with young scientists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tula, Chita, Novosibirsk as part of the III Congress of Young Scientists at Sirius. At the meeting, Vladimir Putin promised to increase postgraduate scholarships. He also instructed hold an annual scientific conference in Mariupol.
At the Congress, officials and representatives of the university community also announced the Russian Federation’s plans to increase scientific and educational cooperation with Iran and African countries. These international directions will, apparently, differ significantly: if African countries themselves expect Russia to help in building an educational system, then Russian scientists intend to learn from Iran how to develop under sanctions.
